Bourbon Street Takeover

The groom for the fantastic New Orleans wedding had an image in his head… a shot he really wanted me to get: him, flanked by his groomsmen, walking down the street all Reservoir Dogs style (minus the guns).

Only one slight, teeny tiny problem…

The street he had in mind?

Bourbon Street.

Halloween Weekend.

About 4 hours before a huge parade was supposed to take place.

As you might imagine, the street was completely packed. I had no idea how this was going to work with literally hundreds of people around us. (Including one woman who desperately wanted me to photograph her *ahem* assets. I politely declined.)

But these boys rocked it. They just stood in a line and blocked the foot traffic and did it. And they even re-did it when I realized one of the groomsmen had wandered into a shadow. Rocked. It.

I cannot begin to tell you how much fun I had shooting this wedding… it was a blast! I’ll have the rest of it up on the blog soon, but I wanted to get this post up for a little sneak peek.

Even here in Austin, it’s finally starting to get cooler and bundling up is starting to be an actual option. For this New Hampshire girl, the change in weather has been very welcome!

Texas Rowing Center Fundraising Photoshoot

As I posted a few weeks ago, I was given the wonderful opportunity to work with Texas Rowing Center on a project to raise money for Texas Rowing for All. Texas Rowing for All is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing Texas Rowing Center’s mission to be the most inclusive rowing and paddling organization in the nation. Today, Texas Rowing For All is a national leader in providing rowing and paddling recreation for people with physical, sensory, and cognitive disabilities.

In order to raise money for this wonderful cause, I and another photographer, Alison Krause, donated our services to provide holiday photos on the dock in return for a small donation to Texas Rowing for All. It was really inspiring to see some of the rowers with Texas Rowing for All in action, and in general, a whole lot of fun. Texas Rowing Center was awesome to work with, and I really hope they will have me back out next year.

Don’t these pictures make you want to hop in a boat and get on the water? I know I can’t wait to get rowing! Thanks again Kristin and TRC! You rock!

Santa’s Little Helper

A few weeks ago, I had this cute little guy (and his fabulous mom) over to the house for a little pre-holiday photo shoot. He is such a sweet baby – so calm and even tempered. He made me work for his smiles, but it was so worth it… don’t you think?
